Instead of the traditionally pleasant but warm weather of may, we're given either buckets of rain, hot enough to dry grass and cloudiness at a degree in which you wonder why it's not raining buckets. At the very least the cloudiness gives us some relief with it's relatively fast speeds cooling us off like a free air conditioner. But more often than not, it's either being drenched or roasted alive.

Singaporeans were treated to a rare waterspout sighting near the downtown areas. Do not worry, waterspouts are weaker and as dangerous as the tornadoes we see on TV. Meanwhile, expect thundery showers lasting through to the next week. Is winter finally coming?

A huge part of a wall around Stevens Road was struck by a lightning at mid-afternoon today. The lightning strike caused the wall to break off, spewing bricks and debris all across the road. Our reader said he heard a crack before getting hit on the neck by a brick fragment. He was on the way home and was shocked to see it happen. A police patrol unit was inspecting the damage and so far no injuries have been reported yet. Scary siol.

The Straits Times weather report is all the rage among Singaporean netizens these days, all thanks to a newly hired weather intern whose epigrammatic tweets have lightened many a stormy weather. According to a netizen, who provided a number of screenshots showcasing the new weatherman's tweets, ST tweets began taking on a quirky, punny character that seemed at odds with the usual "boring" style of the national newspaper.

Bought something online from Japan and reached Singapore this morning. Speedpost courier picked it up for delivery at 0913. At 1517, the status changed to unsuccessful delivery due to inclement weather. I have read online that many people are pissed off with Speedpost/Singpost services. Can Speedpost courier decides not to deliver because he/she thinks that there is inclement weather? I am not sure about other parts of the island but there is definitely no inclement weather in the area I stay.

With the gaze of the motor racing world set to be firmly focused on Singapore next week with the Formula 1 Singapore Airlines Singapore Grand Prix, the organisers have left nothing to chance to help ensure it runs smoothly. A ceremony was held at the race’s Marina Bay Street Circuit yesterday, where religious leaders from Catholicism, Hinduism, Buddhism, Taoism, Sikhism, Judaism, Jainism, Zoroastrianism and the Baha’i faith conducted prayers for good weather and the safety of the 23 drivers and their teams, race officials and spectators.
