Chan Chun Sing Says 18 Year Olds Not Mature Enough To Vote In SG

So, what he is basically saying is that voting requires maturity, and those below 21 years old are not matured enough to decide on their future. He did not, however, explain why Singapore's young men are required to serve NS when they turn 18. For context, these immature young men are required to handle weapons and grenade during their NS obligations. So they are not mature to vote, but mature enough to handle dangerous weapons that can really kill.

Once again the GE is upon us again, at the last election the worker's party (WP) had managed to wrestle Aljunied GRC from the PAP, and a further Punggol East SMC in a by election giving a thumping defeat to the the PAP's candidate in Punggol East. The ground now is not sweet and is more sour than it was in 2011 due to unresolved issues.

WILL YOU VOTE BLINDLY AT THE NEXT GENERAL ELECTIONS?

I accept the fact that certain hardcore opposition supporters will have the mindset that any candidate from the opposition is better than any candidate from the PAP, even if we were to accept such an argument then shouldn’t we be looking at comparing the individual candidates from the different opposition parties before making a choice? It comes as a surprise when the opposition supporters whine all day along about the PAP’s suppose authoritarian behaviour but then went on to directly instruct the electorate to vote in a precise and rigid manner.

CIVIL SERVANTS PLEASE VOTE WITH YOUR HEADS FOR OUR FUTURE

My guess is that since election is near, let the major vote bank of theirs – i.e. civil servants, teachers and uniform groups made happy for their continuous support. Now, let me ask this group of people: “many of you vote for them, because you are so afraid they will know and you promotions will be scuttled.” But, ask your self this question,”How can they know, if they have come out publicly that your vote is secret”
