PAP OPENLY ADVERTISE BENEFITS FOR RC MEMBERS, OWNSELF REWARD OWNSELF!

Gerald Giam from the Workers Party (WP) spotted this door pamphlet during his rounds in his ward and decided to show just what kind of tricks the WP has to deal with from the incumbent People's Action Party (PAP). According to the pamphlet, the PAP is looking for Residents Committee volunteers and openly advertised some major benefits for those who do join. They include priority queue for Ministry of Education primary school registration exercises, Ministry of National Development Grassroots Organization Scheme, HDB Special Parking Label and free education courses.

BANK IN CAREGIVING FOR YOURSELF WHEN YOU VOLUNTEER TO TAKE CARE OF ELDERLY NOW

In order to recognise and encourage caregiving, a system would be set up whereby Singaporeans bank in the hours they spend on volunteer care for use as credits to get care respite or have others care for them later in life.

Singapore's population for those ageing is on a very sharp rise, thus the need for this report. It does seem like finding the number of volunteers to help out the elderly is fast becoming more difficult to actually meet the rising demand. Thus, the need for this proposal, where basically if you volunteer, then the next time you need elderly help, you already bank in volunteer care through the volunteer work you had done. So, if you volunteer, then chances of you getting elderly care in the future is almost assured.

PLMGS STUDENTS WERE SENT TO "WORK" DURING F1 EVENT TO EARN CCA POINT, PARENT UPSET WITH SCHOOL DECISION

My 15yrs old daughter was sent to work in a POSH restuarant at the Marina Bay area by her SCHOOL for the F1 event in September 2016. I understood from her teachers that it is COMPULSORY for the students as it was APPROVED by the MINISTRY OF EDUCATION. For the 3 nights events, my daughter & her fellow students earned a mere 1 CCA point!! Is this considered child slavery when organisers & the companies involved in F1 racing are earning millions $$$???

S'POREANS MORE LIKELY TO GIVE MONEY THAN VOLUNTEER OR HELP STRANGERS

Singaporeans are more likely to offer money to strangers rather than give up their time to volunteer or help strangers, this according to the World Giving Index, compiled by a UK non-profit organization. The poll by Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) saw nearly 6 in 10 Singaporeans give money to charity in the month before when they were polled last year, but less than 3 volunteered for charity and around 4 had helped a stranger.

OPPOSITION VOTERS STOP BEING PASSIVE & VOLUNTEER NOW TO ENSURE CHANGE

After the election results, opposition supporters were quick to blame the 60.1% for giving the PAP such a large majority in parliament and the mandate for unpopular and unwanted policies like the Population White Paper. Rather than blame the 60.1% for the results, many of the 39.9% of opposition voters should also blame themselves for doing nothing except voting against the PAP. Yes, you guys voted against the PAP. But that is not enough if you want real democratic progress.

SAF VOLUNTEER CORPS TRAINED FOR 2 WEEKS & ALLOWED ACCESS TO KEY INSTALLATIONS?

The Singapore Armed Force (SAF) is allowing SAF Volunteer Corps (VC) who have only served 2 weeks of military training to patrol key installations like Changi Airport. In what seems like a huge security risk overlook, it appears the SAF is not aware that any terrorist can easily obtain Singapore Permanent Residency and volunteer himself in the SAF Volunteer Corps (VC) with basic military training for only 2 weeks.

SEA GAMES ORGANISERS HARASSING VOLUNTEERS WHO CHOSE TO PULL OUT

I would like to bring this up about how the SEA games organizers are like. A group of friends and myself were unintentionally volunteered by a 3rd party to take part in the SEA Games. After going for a briefing and receiving news regarding the schedule, we decided to withdraw ourselves from the event citing no particular reason. Recently, they have resorted to harassing us through calls and even adding us to a whatsapp group. Leaving this group will only result in you being added back in non stop.

LOW THIA KHIANG: WILL FOREIGNERS IN SAFVC GAIN THE RESPECT OF TRUE BLUE NSMEN?

I would also like to know whether deploying volunteers alongside our NSF, NSmen and regulars post security risks for SAF? Will the security vetting be sufficiently thorough especially with regards to the period of time when the applicants resided outside Singapore? Volunteers need only to do 2 weeks BMT, 7 days qualification course training, and are liable to be called up for 7 days a year. Will the reduced training time be sufficient? Will it cause grievance for our NSmen?
