MOTORCYCLIST DIES AFTER GETTING ROLLED UNDER CAR ALONG KJE

A 60 year-old motorcyclist died after he got pinned under a car following an accident on the Kranji Expressway (KJE). The accident took place at about 5.30AM this morning and caused a section of the KJE to be closed. 3 lanes along the KJE were still shut down at about 7AM, which resulted in a long line of traffic due to the morning peak hour rush.

TRAFFIC WARDEN REFUSE TO ISSUE SUMMON TO VEHICLES PARKED ILLEGALLY

I was on my way to work this morning and i caught a few vehicles parking illegally in No Parking Area, Double yellow lines and Season Parking Lots underneath my flat located in 668 Chander Road. I managed to get hold of one of Certis Cisco Wardens that were deployed there but he refused to summon those vehicles claiming those lots are under the charge of his colleague. He then tried to leave the scene with his motorbike without issuing any summon.

LUI TUCK YEW: WE WON’T MODERATE THE SURGE IN COES FOR NOW

In an interview with the media, outgoing Transport Minister Lui Tuck Yew said that the Ministry of Transport (MOT) would not moderate the unusual surge in Certificates of Entitlement (COE), which he expects to begin to fall from mid-2018. The COE quota for motor vehicles is usually determined by the number of cars scrapped or deregistered in the preceding quarter. Analysts have complained that the ups and downs seen recently in the car market causes too much uncertainty and is not good for car dealers.

2ND HAND CAR BUYER SHOCKED, POLICE STOP HER CAR FOR FINES INCURRED BY PREVIOUS OWNER

Last Saturday, a reader drove her second hand car into Malaysia, but was stopped by Malaysian police just before the last checkpoint heading towards the Singapore side of the causeway. She was puzzled and scared as she did not know what they stopped her for - as far as she knew, she had not done anything wrong and she had no outstanding offences in Malaysia. Malaysian police impounded her vehicle, and finally told her that she had to settle 6 outstanding fines attributed to this vehicle in the years between 2004 and 2007. These fines were incurred by the vehicle's previous owner!
