One of our readers ponder about how those involved were neither named nor their photographs published in the spirit of transparency, whereas the pictures of Terry Xu and Daniel De Costa were splashed across State media in a bid to damage their reputation.

In his speech yesterday, PM Lee took credit for keeping the number of fatalities in Singapore low. That the number of fatalities is low reflects on the diligence of our nurses, doctors and other essential workers in our healthcare sector. How can our leaders take credit for keeping the fatalities here low, but not take responsibility for the number of infected persons in Singapore which is nearing the 40,000 new cases mark?

2 months into the crisis, the number of confirmed cases have risen sharply and so have the number of unlinked cases. Singaporeans are angry with half-hearted measures like closing tuition centers but not schools and having home-based learning for one day in a week. How pathetic can these so called 4G PAP Leaders be.

It is a well held believe of many Singaporeans that the Government does not trust its own citizens in interpreting data. Heck, the Government does not even trust Singaporeans to know what is fake news and what is not. Trust works both ways, but apparently, not for these 4G Leaders.

He then indicated that the most common reason why trust is eroding is because of the role of digital technology, and how bad news generally gets spread faster on social media, and how negative news are generally over exaggerated. He failed to mention that another reason is because bad and negative news gets widespread coverage now because governments cannot find a way to stop them from spreading like they do when social media was non-existent.

On Wednesday in Parliament, Sylvia Lim pointed out that the PAP Government had couched the decision on how to count the Elected Presidency under a legal cloak by claiming that this was the Attorney-General's advice. This was done to avoid any rigorous challenge in Parliament. But now Shanmugam claims it was never suggested that that the decision to count from Wee Kim Wee was made because of the AGC's advice. How can you trust the PAP after this?

In Parliament today, ESM Goh Chok Tong lamented that the public Lee family squabble has been blown out of proportion but he was not concerned with the feud or the fate of 38 Oxley road. He warned instead that willful attacks such as those employed by Lee Wei Ling and Lee Hsien Yang would caused Singapore to slip into a third world country if public faith was eroded.

In his Facebook post, DPM Tharman Shanmugaratnam called on Singaporeans to “have confidence” in the present system of governance, adding, “You can count on PM Lee Hsien Loong and all of us in his team for that.” To have confidence in the government, Singaporeans need transparency. So before the DPM asks for trust in Mr Lee Hsien Loong's team, the PAP must first account for and explain:

BE CAREFUL IN TRUSTING YOUR HELPERS!!! Shout out to my ex helper Lorraine Anthonet Bico in Singapore for wearing my CLOTHES and using my clothes for her selfies without asking my permission and bringing strangers in our house while we are not at home! We only found out recently that she is doing this through her facebook account when we already kick her out last year for not being a responsible one.I'm so surprise that she's been wearing my clothes even my night dresses!!! Im posting this for her not to do the same thing to her current employer.

A country does not just run on money it runs on trust, trust in public institutions like the police force and the government, this trust has to be earned and not just expected. If the police felt that this may have "sow distrust from the Police.” maybe the police force needs to look at their own actions and see if they might have sown distrust in themselves. I think the police in singapore have a very hard job and they need to be paid more and i totally appreciate them for their hard work however i think the Singapore police are victims of a political system that may at times make use of them for the purpose of fear mongering.
