The Covid19 pandemic has hit the taxi business hard in Singapore. Empathising with the situation, a kind Transcab passenger gave her taxi driver $90 tips for a 9-minute ride which only cost $10.47. No, it was not a mistake, it was intentional.

A Transcab taxi caught fire in the KPE tunnel towards TPE after ECP, leaving part of the tunnel closed. Thankfully, the SCDF managed to extinguish the fire and nobody was injured. Drivers are advised to avoid lane 4. Some were also told to abandon their motorbikes and exit the tunnel.

Another case of a TransCab taxi catching fire after an accident was reported in the press today. No details of the original accident were given, but the taxi, a Toyota Wish, caught fire in the aftermath of the accident that happened along Marymount Road near the junction of Sin Ming Avenue on Monday afternoon. SCDF officers managed to put out the fire, but a 50 year old man, believed to be the taxi driver, suffered burn injuries and was conveyed to the Singapore General Hospital. The same model cab, a Toyota Wish, also caught fire at Buona Vista on April 30, where a viral video showed the cab exploded and injured four people.

My dad brought his brother to Bugis Kuan Yin Temple, at 10.30am today, they board this cab. Along the way, this driver kept saying that highway no jam kept driving along the way through further route instead of driving along the road in front of Novena Square, then pass by KK hospital then Sim Lim Square and arrived the temple. Once they arrived the meter show $18.52 rather than what Grab app shown btw $10-$13 pricing. It's already to far difference of about $5 plus. I understand that Transcab now reduced its rental to $55/day for a Toyota Wish, which I find its too cheap, which is why it leads to taxi drivers even idling during peak period even when more demand and high fares are applicable. This are the type of taxi drivers not working hard and will end up making noise at their competitors and also scold passengers for booking uber and grab.
