LEE LI LIAN: TRAINS ARE UNRELIABLE, EVEN SMRT STAFF ARE SCARED OF BREAKDOWNS

Our trains are no longer reliable? I was waiting for the train at the platform on Thursday morning, a day after another round of breakdown from the Circle Line. I overheard 2 staff speaking to each other. They were talking about the breakdown. What caught my attention about the conversation was this phrase, "When I heard the breakdown on Circle Line, my heart was thumping so hard. I'm very worried that it will happen here."

WHY WERE DEFECTIVE PRC-MADE TRAINS KEPT SECRET BY PAP GOVT SINCE 2013?

Due to SMRT’s incompetence and inadequate maintenance, billions in tax dollars would have eventually gone down the drain to support its rectification works. The use of tax dollars justifies transparency and accountability from SMRT and LTA. However, both have tried to conceal material information from the public. Thanks to social media, both have been caught with their pants down.

INSIDER INFO ON LTA COVER-UP OF CHINA MADE TRAINS

1. Infrastructure and rolling stock belongs to LTA and not SMRT or the other subway operators. LTA placed the contract in 2009 for 22 trains and a further 13 trains in 2011 to the second highest bidder. This consortium was led by Kawasaki who have supplying trains cars to MRT since 1986. The 2009 and 2011 contracts was the first to include a Chinese partner who will do the main build.

2. The first trains from the Chinese builder went on line in May 2011 with the last of the first 22 to be operational by 2012. The remaining 13 would come online in 2013. However issues kept popping up from day 1 when the first trains arrived in May 2011. Within 3 months significant defects including cracked undercarriage, body and the actual integrity of the whole construction was being questioned. This is when the first cover-up began in earnest because the PM apologised to the nation in May 2011 during GE2011 and more bad news was not going to help matters.

NSF & NSMAN ARE MEANT TO DEFEND S'PORE, NOT TO DO SHIT JOBS FOR SMRT & SBS

I hope MINDEF will see this and not agree to our soldiers being deployed during major MRT breakdowns. These are public listed transport companies who are profit drive. How can our NS boys be made use of to clean up their shit? They even declare high profits recently, why not use these profits to hire more manpower to cope with such incidents? Our army personnel are meant for defending Singapore, not for doing marshaling duties during train disruptions!
