NEW LIFT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM ONLY FOR PAP TOWN COUNCIL WARDS

It has just been announced that as part of efforts to to improve lift safety and reliability, a dashboard management system jointly developed by town councils managed by the People's Action Party (PAP) is expected to be launched later this month. As the first sentence broadly hints at, this system will only be launched in areas that are under the PAP town councils.

Why create this guise of working for the people under the management of Town Councils? Can't the government just roll out the lift management system under the HDB umbrella, so that all Singaporeans will benefit? After all, this system are going to be built using taxpayer's money, right? Mist likely, using this project as saying it was jointly developed by PAP town councils will allow them the right to just place the system in PAP Town Council's wards. Is this some sort of punishment for the people who voted the PAP out in the other Town Council?

LIFT BREAKDOWNS OCCURS MORE, BUT TOWN COUNCILS GOT GOOD LIFT PERFORMANCE SCORES

You see – the latest Town Council Management Report (TCMR) FY2015 had all the town councils scoring “green” for “lift performance”.

How can this be – when there have been so many reports of frequent lift breakdowns, people getting injured or killed, resulting in the imposition of an additional 14 per cent of the Service and Conservancy Charges (S & CC) to the sinking fund (increase in S & CC)?

SIGMA ISSUE STILL UNRESOLVED, GOVT TOWN COUNCILS NOT TO BLAMED

The deadline of 31 January for Sigma to fix their faulty lifts have come and gone. So far, the company have not been able to solve all the old issues, and in recent weeks, more new cases of lifts continued to break down have emerged.

As the deadline had passed, both HDB and Sigma had remained silent on whether the issues had been resolved. So what now? If these happened in opposition wards, confirm opposition MPs would have been shot down by the media and Ministers alike, accusing them of incompetence.

ARE OUR TOWN COUNCILS BEING RUN BY IDIOTS?

Recently there have been highlights in the internet regarding Town Councils mindless implementation such as : putting sign stating "No Playing of Chess in Common Areas" at a HDB void deck in Haig Road, installing barriers on a walkway which caters to wheel chairs users at Bedok. These idiotic quick fixes in responses to feedback and/or complaints give us a glimpse of the working mentality of Town Councils. Seems like they suffer from a deficiency of common sense.
