According to Mr Teo who was dining at the Chinatown hawker center, he was harassed by a very persistent tissue paper seller. The seller was roughly 50 to 60 years of age and went around the tables touting diners to buy 3 of his tissue packets for $2. However, when he was given $5, the seller gave only 1 packet of tissue and pocketed the change.

3 POLICEMEN SURROUND HANDICAP TISSUE SELLER, WHY SO HARSH & DENY A SIMPLE LIVING?

I would like to highlight to you this incident where I saw a few police officers were surrounding this handicapped auntie and a younger girl who might possibly be mentally challenged making a living selling tissues. Why does the police still need to be so harsh by even attempting to deny them of this one and only channel to earn a living? I feel that the police should take a step back when it comes to this.

PRC TISSUE SELLER SCOLDS S’POREAN FOR NOT BUYING TISSUES FROM HER

An elderly Singaporean lady and her husband were having a quiet meal at the hawker center along Lorong Ah Soo when she was rudely interrupted by a foreign tissue seller. The foreign woman, who looked to be in her 40s and spoke with a loud PRC accent, had simply walked up, placed 3 packets of tissues on the table and asked them to buy them for $1.

WHY DOES TRANSCOM & SMRT STAFF HAVE TO “FINE” HANDICAPPED TISSUE SELLERS?

I took the photo showing the Transcom police & SMRT staffs issuing fine to the elderly wheelchair-bound for selling tissues. I understand that selling tissues in public places need a license from NEA but they're too old to even know about all these. They're already handicapped and how could the transcom expect them to travel all the way to apply for a license. Not as if they commit any serious crime or doing any illegal things here.
