MARINE PARADE GRC LIKELY TO BE CAPTURED BY OPPOSITION PARTIES

The incumbents in Marine Parade are no guarantees for a win. Chok Tong, the strongest candidate due to his Premiership status is likely to be retired. Tan Chuan Jin has not much to show during his term in MOM and would not be the persuasive factor to carry Marine Parade. The rest of the team are just so so.

RESIDENT: TOWN COUNCIL WAYANG IN PREPARATION FOR TIN PEI LING’S HOUSE VISIT

Saw the big notices put by your RC yesterday, highlighting the preparation needs for your visit to my block later today. I must admit I am pretty impressed by the "efficiency" of your announcement as I never saw my corridor swept twice as much (only for today I suppose) and the long faded road labels, repainted on account of your visit from the last G.E. with the previous MP.

[COMPLAIN] MSM IS GLORIFYING PAP MP TIN PEI LING

This gives the impression that Tin Pei Ling, and by extension her PAP colleagues, is working very hard. Is MSM trying to imply that opposition politicians are not working hard? Has the MSM ever interviewed an opposition politician to profile them this way? Why is there a need to portray PAP so favorably? Last July, WP MP Lee Li Lian gave birth to her child and she working all the way till she gave birth. Even the week before she gave birth, she was fulfilling her duties as a MP and attending to constituency matters. I don't see the MSM running after her for an interview.

TAN KIN LIAN: TIN PEI LING IS A DEDICATED & GOOD PAP MP

I read comments in the social media about Tin Pei Ling, MP for Marine Parade GRC. Most of the comments were critical of her and were rude. I observed her performance in Parliament and in the constituency and got the impression that she tries very hard to be a good MP. She even gave up her full time job to devote all her time to her job as a MP. It is commendable.

TIN PEI LING PUSH FOR PIONEER GENERATION PACKAGE TO COVER TCM TREATMENTS

Some elderly Singaporeans are taking matters into their own hands, in their bid to get Traditional Chinese Medicine, or TCM, covered under Pioneer Generation Package (PGP) subsidies. In a written parliamentary reply earlier this month, Health Minister Gan Kim Yong described TCM as a form of "complementary medicine", and said the subsidies would not apply at TCM clinics. About 20 elderly Singaporeans have, however, signed and handed in a petition to MP for Marine Parade GRC, Tin Pei Ling, whom they hope will push their cause. Under the PGP, pioneers who visit general practitioners (GPs) on the Community and Health Assist (CHAS) scheme will get subsidies, and this could be for ailments ranging from the common cold to chronic conditions.

The physical changes that the Macpherson estate has gone through over the last three years have been nothing short of truly amazing. The estate, not just it's CC, has been given a physical facelift that has rejuvenated it's outward appearance. Macpherson no longer looks like a run down ghetto. It actually starting to look like a housing estate in a new town. Don't believe me? Go see for yourself. See if you think that the Van Gogh mural and the newly refurbished park connector in Macpherson has brought new life and color into the aging Macpherson estate.

LEE HSIEN LOONG: TIN PEI LING HAS WON OVER HEARTS & MINDS OF MACPHERSON RESIDENTS

In a Facebook status posted today, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong praised Ms Tin Pei Ling, MP for Marine Parade GRC, for having worked hard to win over the hearts and minds of her residents. He wrote: "In the last general election, I sent Tin Pei Ling, our youngest candidate, to MacPherson, which has many old residents. I was confident that she could establish rapport with the uncles and aunties, and serve residents well. "The last three years have proved this so. Pei Ling and her team of activists and volunteers have worked hard. Some were sceptical at first, but she and her team have won over many hearts and minds."

Unlikely allies in the CPF debate

However, what is surprising is that several PAP MPs have also come out to voice their disapproval with the current CPF system and the government’s performance as a whole thus far. There are clear signs that the consensus is being questioned.

After baptism by bags and fire, Tin Pei Ling grows up

On the personal front, Ms Tin is trying to start a family with her husband, civil servant Ng How Yue. She plans to eventually send their children to neighbourhood primary schools. "I know we say that every school is a good school, but a neighbourhood school can be very diverse. You meet children from other walks of life and learn that life is not always a bed of roses," said the former pupil of the now-defunct Mei Chin Primary.
