The oldest Hindu temple in Singapore, the Sri Veeramakaliamman Temple, is investigated for suspected offences by the CAD and COC. There is feedback concerning its governance and administration. In spite of this, the temple's religious activities will not be affected.

Same story as the person who paid $1500 for an amulet. I paid $3000 ! My family was going through tough times and I was very depressed. My mum suggested we get a feng sui master to help. In the end, he asked me to buy an amulet for $3000. He said half the amount will be donated to the temple. It's been more than 6 months. Nothing changed for the better. I have decided to get the guy to come and collect back the amulet. I will not be getting my money back but I do not feel comfortable keeping such an amulet at home. Better to return it to where it belongs.

Despite resistance by Fernvale Link residents against a columbarium to be built right next to their home, the Singapore government gave the green light to build a facility to house tablets for the dead at the site.

First, it was a foreign workers' dormitory in Serangoon Gardens, then studio apartments in Toh Yi Drive and eldercare facilities in Woodlands and Bishan, and now it is a columbarium in Sengkang West ("Columbarium issue sparks calls for flat refunds"; yesterday). The not-in-my-backyard syndrome has resurfaced again, this time in the form of objections to "living near the dead".
