In case you missed it, in the wee hours of the morning, Joseph Schooling finished first in the heats for 100m Butterfly with 51.41s. He raced along his idol and the most decorated Olympian, Michael Phelps who came in second. Quah Zheng Wen came in 10th in the 100m Butterfly in an earlier heat with a personal best of 52.08s. Both our Singaporean sons made it to the semi-finals that will take place at 10.42 am local time.

Team Singapore athletes in the vicinity of the Swissotel the Stamford were in for a big shock on Wednesday when they witnessed a man crashing down to the ground in front of the hotel at about 1PM. Some of the athletes, who are housed at the hotel for this month's South East Asian (SEA) Games, were near the McDonalds and Starbucks outlets where the man landed. The 33-year-old man was found dead at the foot of the hotel on Wednesday. Police and the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) were alerted to the incident about 1.10PM. Paramedics pronounced the man dead at the scene.

Team Singapore’s 224-strong contingent at the 17th Asian Games in Incheon have been hit by a disciplinary issue with only five days left in the two-week multi-sport event. TODAY has learnt that three swimmers – believed to be Joseph Schooling, Roanne Ho and Teo Zhen Ren – had left the Athletes’ Village at Namdong-gu last Friday (Sep 26) without seeking the permission of officials and that they had been drinking before returning to the village early on Saturday morning. The trio were escorted to their apartments by village security upon their return.
