I'm really confused and need some help. During recess week I met with my JC teacher for dinner. He was my mentor in school and gave me plenty of good advice about universities and scholarships. I was grateful for his help and I wanted to thank him by treating him to dinner, especially since this is my first semester in NUS. I told him during dinner that I live in one of the UTown RCs, and he got interested, and wanted to visit my RC.

S’POREAN TEACHER URGE FELLOW EDUCATORS TO EMBRACE POKEMON, STOP THROWING AWAY SLOW STUDENTS LIKE MARGIKARP

To my fellow teachers, I think we should all start playing Pokemon GO! ...Urm, I mean we should all learn to listen to the dreams of our students. Homework, projects and exams wont get them there; Our students are like Pokemon. They need someone to catch and train them. Our students want to win battles and earn gym badges. They have their strengths and weaknesses. Not all of them are good in Math and Physics. Teachers, give them room to fail. It is okay. Stop expecting a Bulbasaur to beat a Charizard.

MOE TEACHER SICK OF THE BACKSTABBING IN SCHOOL, LOOKS TO ESCAPE SUFFERING

I'm very good at my job - I love teaching, was a ministry scholar, have often presented nationally, won awards for my projects, produce great results, am loved by my students, etc. However, I'm really burnt out from the people around me and don't feel I'm a good fit for the education service. There isn't much growth as many teachers in my school lack innovation and passion, and are super political and backstabbing to boot.

WHY SOME CIVIL SERVANTS GET MORE BONUSES THAN OTHERS WITH SAME PERFORMANCE GRADES?

In Civil Service, we have different ministries and Stat. Boards. Our bonuses for mid-year and end-year are pegged to the economy and we get the same rate. However, I am puzzled as to why our Performance Bonus are of a different rate. A 'C' grade in MINDEF can get an officer 3 to 3.5 months for bonuses, whereas in MOE it is only worth 1.5 to 2 months. I understand that job scope if different, but it is already differentiate via the salary system.

TEACHER: I WORKED MY *SS OFF FOR ONLY 2MONTHS PERFORMANCE BONUS?!

For those of you who are considering joining the civil service as a teacher, think again and don't bother joining this bloated junk system. For the majority of last year, I worked my *ss off, putting in hours to counsel students, organising CCA activities, covering my head of department during his absence. Although I admit I did this out of dedication to my students, but at the very least I expect to be well compensated for the loss of my time with family and the depreciation in my health.
