GOVT REMOVED TAX FOR DIESEL CARS, BUT INCREASE DIESEL TAX. WHAT HELP?

A friend who is a taxi driver told me that whilst the Budget announced a reduction in the road tax for diesel cars – at the same time it also raised the diesel tax. Does this mean that it helps those taxi drivers who park long hours at say RWS, but tax those who drive high mileage on the road more? First they removed the minimum daily mileage, which may hint arguably, less policy support for taxi drivers. But easier for Uber/Grab and car rentals to feed on the drivers. The taxi diesel vehicle’s tax is reduced by $2.33 per day, but the use of diesel is up by $0.10 per liter. At the end of the day – taxi drivers end up paying more.

UBER CUSTOMER CHARGED $25 FOR $9 RIDE AFTER DRIVER DISPUTES FARE

Uber is a hypocrite, booked uberX from Choa Chu Kang MRT to Choa Chu Kang Cemetery last Saturday, before booking it was indicated that the fare will be $9.20, fixed rate. An expected 10 minute journey became 50 minutes because of the jam, so after alighting from the car, uber sent me an email saying that I am charged $9.20 for the ride.

SG PARENT RAGES AGAINST TAXI DRIVER WHO CALLED CHILD “SICK”

This man was leaning against his taxi , smoking and looking at our car, refusing to budge. After we waited a while, the taxi did move forward but only a little. When I got down from the car with my 13 months old baby, he said that my baby was sick. Anyone who is a parent would know that when kids are sick, the last thing they would wanna do is sleep. My child was actually napping on my shoulder.

TAXI UNCLE DEMANDS CGH NURSES CLEAN UP MESS LEFT BY ELDERLY PATIENTS

A taxi driver caused a scene at the A&E taxi stand at about 12.30AM yesterday, arguing with nurses and threatening to lodge complaints if they did not accede to his demands. According to an eye witness, elderly patients had left behind a mess of body fluids after vomiting at the back of his taxi. Visibly upset, he demanded that the nurses clean up the vomit at the back of his vehicle.

NURSING INTERNS @ CGH MOLESTED BY 70 Y.O. MALE PATIENT

70 year-old cab driver Woo Kiam Sing has been fined $5,000 for outraging the modesty of 2 nursing interns at Changi General Hospital. Woo has admitted to police that he used his left hand to tap a 23 year-old intern's butt twice on 17 February 2016, and smacked the butt of a 21 year-old twice the next day on 18 February 2016. Woo had been checked into CGH following a road accident at the time.
