TANJONG PAGAR IS THE WORST-RUN TOWN COUNCIL IN S’PORE?

In this regards, Tanjong Pagar’s “deficit before grant per elector” is noticeably the worst among the GRCs, at $50 per elector and is 50% higher than AHPETC. Jurong TC’s “deficit before grant per elector” is the best at $26 per elector, but that is partly because it charges among the highest service fees per elector. When you put all these in context, AHPETC looks quite well-run, doesn’t it? It charges among the least, per elector, compared to the other GRCs.

INDRANEE: MY RESIDENT KEEPS THROWING TEABAGS ONTO PALM TREE

After the Cleaner Appreciation event yesterday afternoon (see post below), I took a walk around the common space at blks 128, 129 and 130 Bukit Merah View and checked out the environment. Was dismayed to see this palm tree adorned with tea bags, obviously thrown from a higher floor and which had snagged on the leaves and branches. It was like a Christmas tree except that instead of pretty ornaments, this poor tree was festooned with used Dilmah tea bags!

REFORM PARTY: WE DEMAND A BY-ELECTION IN TANJONG PAGAR GRC

The fact that any one could even suggest that denying the democratic rights of the citizens of one ward to choose their representative is a way to show respect for the founder of our one-party authoritarian system goes a long way to explaining how far from being a democracy that system is and how far we have to go to become a developed nation in terms of our political and legal structures.

IS IT LEGALLY BINDING TO HAVE A TANJONG PAGAR BY-ELECTION?

I hope it is not too vulgar or insensitive to blog about this now. I certainly hope the lynch mob will not turn on me. This is an issue about the law and so I am just wondering out aloud: Is there a legal requirement to hold a by-election in a GRC where one of the seats has become vacant? Should there be a by-election in Tanjong Pagar?

FIRST PINNACLE @ DUXTON RESALE FLAT SELLS FOR WHOPPING S$900,000

The first [email protected] flat to be sold on the resale market has gone for a princely price, less than a month after most home owners of the iconic Housing Board project were allowed to put their units up for sale. The four-room flat, located somewhere from the 34th to 36th floors, was sold on Monday for a hefty $900,000. Savills property agent Ron Chong, who handled the transaction, said the corner unit's price was not surprising, given its central location, high floor and well-designed interior.
