NMP TAN TAI YONG: YOUNG SINGAPOREANS NEED TO TOUGHEN UP BY TAKING THE SCHOOL BUS

While the Government needs to continue to provide necessary physical and social infrastructure in order to safeguard the population from future challenges, it also needs to ensure that Singaporeans remain resilient, especially with increasing volatility being seen around the world. Disabled lawyer among 9 new NMPs

The NMP scheme began in 1990 to provide more alternative voices in Parliament. Madam Halimah said the panel looked for candidates who could use their specialised knowledge to add to the depth and breadth of debates in Parliament. They were selected by a parliamentary committee chaired by Speaker of Parliament Halimah Yacob. It included two ministers and five other MPs, including Workers' Party chief Low Thia Khiang.
