TAMPINES 1 HAS A RIGHT TO REJECT ANY BUSINESS PROPOSAL THAT DON’T FIT THEIR IMAGE

If an event organizer hosting a Hari Raya event in Geylang Serai rejected a business proposal for a Bak Kwa appreciation stall, I wouldn’t call that Racism (not because you can’t be racist towards a majority group because you can) but because a Bak Kwa appreciation stall is not fitting with a Hari Raya themed event. We have to take into account that we know nothing about this “Malay Roadshow” and how inclusive it is to the other ethnic groups in Singapore. Does it have a Malay speaking Emcee, is it’s main target audience going to be mainly Malay, is it By Malays for Malays and if this was the case then perhaps a location in Geylang Serai might be more fitting as this is where their Target Audience would frequent.

TAMPINES 1 MALL REJECTS MALAY VENDOR, SAYS THEY TARGET CHINESE ONLY

Our reader has shared with us a rude email reply to a Malay business owner, Diana Hairul who had written to ask for space to rent at Tampines 1 shopping mall so she could hawk her goods. But Diana was shocked to receive a curt and rudely worded email who stated that the mall was not interested in renting out a space to her because their "target audience" is mainly "Chinese". This racist email left Diana speechless, and she subsequently decided to post this discrimination on Facebook.

TAMPINES 1 MALL APOLOGISE TO THE MALAY COMMUNITY

After a Malay entrepreneur Ms Diana Hairul, emailed Tampines 1 mall to ask about rental of space for a Malay road show, the mall replied saying they "are not so keen to run a Malay road show as our target audience are mainly Chinese. We regret to inform you that we are unable to rent a space to you."
