The owner of a controversial Muslim-only launderette has received an ultimatum from the Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Saltan Iskandar: Either open up to all races or close down, the Sultan said.

Malaysian Culture and Tourism Minister Nazri Aziz is in hot water for threatening to "whack" the crown prince of Johor after the latter criticized Prime Minister Najib Razak for not showing up at a scheduled questions and answer session between an NGO and the Prime Minister. He will be investigated for inciting public mischief under the Penal Code, which protects members of royalty.

After being told to keep quiet and stay out of politics by Malaysia's Tourism and Culture Minister Nazri Aziz, the sultan of Johor simply uploaded a 17 second video of himself, sitting in a chair looking out into a garden. When the camera closes in on him, Tunku Ismail turns to the camera and makes a "come here" gesture with his left hand. Not a single word was said, yet the defiance was not lost on his supporters. Within 5 hours after the video of Tunku Ismail was uploaded on the Johor Southern Tigers Facebook, the video has been viewed over 205,000 times and was shared just under 5,000 times.

THE Sultan of Johor has ordered the state government to look into filing an appeal against the International Court of Justice's (ICJ) decision six years ago to award Pedra Branca to Singapore. Pedra Branca - which Malaysia refers to as Pulau Batu Puteh - belonged to Johor and should remain a part of it, Sultan Ibrahim Ismail was quoted by the online portals of Malay-language dailies Utusan Malaysia and Sinar Harian as saying yesterday. He said he was following the wishes of his father, the late Sultan Iskandar Ismail.
