Jeffri sent in a screenshot of an alleged notification put up by NTU's Hall of Residence 8 warning students to stop masturbating in the showers. The letter stated that due to this pervasive activity in the showers, numerous pipe blockages were discovered and after investigations, it was due to the accumulated pubic hair and semen. In response, the "school authorities" have deemed the situation intolerable and will be conducting DNA testing to identify the culprits if the problem persists.

PRC STUDENTS SHAMED FOR HAVING SEX IN PUBLIC ON BUSY STREET

A PRC student has become the object of shame for her country after pictures of her face were splashed all over PRC media over the weekend. 18 year-old PRC student Wu Xinyi had been caught openly having sex in public with her 19 year-old boyfriend Yang Hao at Ho Man Tin, Hong Kong, in April this year. They committed the act on a busy street outside her university hall at Hong Kong Polytechnic Univeristy.

SEA GAMES ORGANIZERS DENY OVERSELLING TICKETS, BLAMES LARGE CROWDS FOR FIASCO

In an apology issued on its Facebook page, the SEA Games Organising Committee (SINGSOC) has denied overselling the tickets for the SEA Games closing ceremony, and blamed the sudden build up in the crowds in a short period of time, which caused the organizers to restrict entry into the stadium for safety purposes. SINGSOC claimed that after accounting for all the guests at the venue, there was still sufficient seats in the stadium for all those who came for the event. This is despite reports from eye witnesses, who said that volunteer ushers had no choice but to turn away guests from the National Stadium because all the seats were full. Many guests also reported having to wait more than an hour for entry, with some leaving before they could enter the venue because the situation was too chaotic.

STUDENTS TO BE SURGEONS AND NURSES AT PARKWAY EAST HOSPITAL

In a new training programme by Parkway East Hospital, The Medical High School programme which started on Mar 28, a total of 60 students from Dunman High School, Victoria School and Victoria Junior College will undergo 3 weekends worth of immersion as a medical professional in the hospital. Youths aged 15 to 18 will take part in various medical emergency scenarios – such as when an appendicitis patient is admitted to the hospital. They will take on roles as surgeons and scrub nurses in an actual operating theatre at the hospital, where under the direction of specialists, they will be trained to do laparoscopic surgery.

NTU HOLDS SPECIAL GRADUATION CEREMONY IN CHINA FOR PRC STUDENTS

About 190 Chinese graduates of master's degrees from Singapore's Nanyang Technological University attended a convocation ceremony and received their diplomas in Beijing on Saturday. Education system should prepare students to handle emotions

Schools have counsellors to help students deal with such issues. But perhaps we could schedule weekly or monthly half- or one-hour sessions on dealing with emotions and responding appropriately in writing or verbally. During these sessions, students could be taught the significance of emotions in daily life and, in particular, the possible adverse effects of responding inappropriately to someone who is already experiencing intense emotions.
