PINOY STUDENT COMPLAINS SG EDUCATION SYSTEM IS UNFAIR, BIASED TOWARD LOCALS WITH WORSE RESULTS

This Pinay Singapore permanent resident, Marianne Beltran, said that it is very unfair that Singapore has quotas on the number of foreigners who are admitted into Singapore's local universities. She claimed that it is not meritocratic and she feels frustrated when she sees less capable Singaporeans get into the course she wants. Is this pinay demanding too much from Singapore? Isn't it enough that our government has given her a house and an education?

JC STUDENT: HOMEWORK ALREADY SO TIRING, WHY IRRITATE US WITH CLEANING DUTY?

Students already have a lot on their plates and don’t need to be further irritated by such a ‘cleaning programme’. Schools are primarily an environment to grow as a person. With a mountain of work as an A-Level student and having to sleep at 12am, there is very little I can relate to being forced up to clean up. It is already very tiring for me to deal with my mountain of homework. This school cleaning programme will only be another KPI (key-performance-index) schools and the Ministry of Education (MOE) will use to promote itself and its staff. I am just tired of being used by schools and MOE in this manner.

STUDENT: EDUCATION SYSTEM IN S’PORE IS TOO COMPETITIVE AND STRESSFUL

As a Singaporean student, we spend at least 6-7 of hours in school per day. And then we start to add up co-curricular activities, one could easily be spending 11-12 hours in school, twice or thrice a week. The rest of the days in a week where we get to be released in the afternoon (say 2 or 3pm), it will (quite often) be taken up by supplementary classes, meetings or consultations with teachers. I start to find myself lacking time to even relax or take a breather. Singapore's education may be one of the best, but at the midst of it, i've felt so much stress, competition and suppression, to the extent that life kind of lost it's meaning for me.
