A local inventor who alleged that the Housing Board had infringed his patent for an external clothes drying rack has lost his lawsuit. The High Court on Wednesday found that the HDB has not infringed the patent of Mr Yiap Hang Boon, 54. In particular, the court found that HDB's rack does not act as a safety rail to prevent a person from falling when drying clothes, which is one of the main elements of Mr Yiap's patent.

Companies, unions and government agencies will be more involved in identifying key skills workers in various sectors will need in the future. The Singapore Workforce Development Agency will also enhance existing national training framework and develop sector-based competency frameworks that set out benchmarks for workers to upgrade themselves and plan their careers.

Is it sensible to continue funding a sport that seldom delivers? We might as well use the money to fund and further develop bowling, sailing, swimming and other sports that have delivered consistently. For a sport that receives generous funding, football has time and again disappointed.
