POLICE COMMISSIONER NG JOO HEE REPLACED

Mr Teo Chee Hean said: "I would like to thank Commissioner of Police Ng Joo Hee for his dedication and commitment to keeping Singapore safe and secure in his 29 years with the Singapore Police Force. During his tour of duty as Commissioner of Police, he has made significant improvements to reduce crime and bring unlicensed money lending under control. He has also introduced various initiatives to increase the effectiveness of the force and to provide our Officers with more capabilities to carry out their duties, such as in Community Policing and the deployment of Police cameras in our HDB estates to fight crime.

COURT BATTLE OVER WP TOWN COUNCIL’S CNY FAIR BEGINS

NEA reiterated that a permit was required and the town council submitted the forms. But it struck off the words "trade fair" and substituted them with "event". It also stated the event would be held from Jan 10 to Jan 30 as opposed to Jan 9 when it actually began. On Jan 9, the NEA told the town council via e-mail that the application was incomplete and could not be processed. The AHPETC did not respond to the e-mail, nor to a subsequent warning to stop the event.

NATIONAL STADIUM FIELD FIASCO: NO USE WARRING WITH SPORT SINGAPORE, SAYS SPORTS HUB COO

The Singapore Sports Hub has vowed to get to the root of the problem facing the National Stadium pitch and fix it, said its chief operating officer Oon Jin Teik. The state of the new National Stadium field was criticised in a strongly-worded statement on Tuesday night, barely an hour after Brazil had beaten Japan 4-0 in an international friendly played on the arena's sandy and patchy surface.
