MILLIONS SPENT TO BRING IN TOURISTS TO SINGAPORE

PAP GOVT TO REVAMP ORCHARD ROAD TO ATTRACT MORE TOURISTS

The country’s glitzy shopping district might be in for an overhaul this year, as part of the government’s attempt to boost flagging visitor numbers. Second Minister for Trade and Industry S Iswaran noted in parliament that the Orchard Road precinct will be rejuvenated as part of the Singapore Tourism Board’s (STB) efforts to refresh the city’s tourism assets.

PEOPLE'S PARK COMPLEX: ANOTHER HOTBED FOR BUSINESS SCAMS?

The management of People's Park Complex said that for the past two years, it has taken measures to minimise the errant sales tactics seen in other shopping centres. While the problem remains, it has been "gradually reduced lately", the Management Corporation said. The management said it has been working closely with the relevant authorities, including CASE, police and Singapore Tourism Board to reduce the incidents of such practices. "(While) People's Park Complex may not have eradicated the problem completely, at least it has been noted that the malpractice of sales tactics by these operators here has been gradually reduced lately," it said in its statement.

Sharp-eyed Singaporeans have noticed a new eye catching internet advertisement that is popping up on Taiwanese and Hong Kong websites. The advertisement by Singapore Tourism Board (STB) showed a wax figure of former Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew surrounded by his real life former principal political secretaries and personal assistants. They include Alan Chan who is the current group CEO of SPH and Heng Swee Keat who is the current Education Minister.

‘Not obliged to obtain permission’: STB on creative agency’s design

The Singapore Tourism Board (STB) on Wednesday said they were “not obliged to obtain permission” to use a creative agency’s design for the 2014 Singapore Art Week’s guide. The response came after Singapore-based creative agency DoodleRoom said on Monday that they were “disappointed” STB had “recycled” their design, which was submitted to STB to be used as the cover page for the art event’s guide last year.
