OPPOSITION VETERAN SIN KEK TONG DIES OF PROSTATE CANCER

Not sure if this will pass under the radar of most local media, maybe just reported it once, and leave it buried under important news. Opposition veteran Sin Kek Tong, who founded the Singapore People’s Party (SPP) and contested six general elections in more than two decades in politics, died on Monday night. He was 72, and was suffering from prostate cancer.

JEANETTE CHONG-ARULDOSS LAUNCHES MANIFESTO FOR MOUNTBATTEN SMC

CHIAM SEE TONG NOT RUNNING IN THIS GENERAL ELECTION

In an announcement today, the Singapore People's Party (SPP) champion Mr Chiam See Tong told reporters today that he would not be contesting the upcoming general election. In a press conference held jointly with the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), the SPP-DPP team announced their candidates for Bishan Toa Payoh GRC this morning - but the line-up excluded the 80 year-old veteran Mr Chiam.

OPPOSITION VOTERS STOP BEING PASSIVE & VOLUNTEER NOW TO ENSURE CHANGE

After the election results, opposition supporters were quick to blame the 60.1% for giving the PAP such a large majority in parliament and the mandate for unpopular and unwanted policies like the Population White Paper. Rather than blame the 60.1% for the results, many of the 39.9% of opposition voters should also blame themselves for doing nothing except voting against the PAP. Yes, you guys voted against the PAP. But that is not enough if you want real democratic progress.

SPP'S JEANETTE CHONG-ARULDOSS CANNOT ENTER CONDOS TO SPEAK TO RESIDENTS

According to a Facebook post by Singapore People's Party candidate Jeannette Chong-Aruldoss, the SPP will be holding a mega-picnic event at Wilkinson Interim Park today (23rd August) between 5 to 7PM with free food and refreshments for picnic-goers. Ms Chong-Aruldoss will be representing the SPP in Mountbatten Single Member Constituency (SMC). Ms Chong was formerly an National Solidarity Party (NSP) secretary-general before she quit earlier this year and joined the Singapore People's Party under SPP's Mr Chiam See Tong and his wife, Mrs Lina Chiam.
