SINGAPORE NO LONGER A SIN, BUT IS NOW SGP

Finally, for the upcoming SEA Games, and any other international sporting events, Singapore will stop using the abbreviation "SIN" and instead use "SGP". About time too! We are always bounded by the words SIN, when representing Singapore in sports. It is as if to say that when you are representing Singapore, you are a SIN. Even when Joseph Schooling created history by winning Singapore's first ever gold medal, he was representing SIN. Singapore have been using the SIN abbreviation since 1959. IOC, the international Olympic body, have finally approved Singapore's application to use SGP instead.

LOCAL UNIVERSITIES TO ALLOW ARTS AND SPORTS TALENT JOIN THEIR ELITE RANKS

Good to know that even though Singapore places its values on grades, there are still avenues to get a place in our local universities if you are talented enough in your chosen field, such as the arts and sports. This will only encourage students that being creative and good in their other fields are also ways to get to that dream degree of theirs. After all, why should grades be the end all and be all for everything?
