SPH CHARGED ME $500 ADMIN FEE TO RESUME SUBSCRIPTION AFTER MY CREDIT CARD EXPIRED

I took up a zaobao subscription with SPH for a 3 years period payment via credit card monthly. After 2 and a half year, i stopped receiving my newspapers on end July. I realised my old credit card had expired and the bank had renewed my card which i had overlooked to inform SPH. So on the 12 August i replied them with my consent and new credit card info. Unexpectedly i received a reminder of outstanding payment with an admin fee of $500! This is worst blood sucking then credit card company!

Mr Han Fook Kwang, SPH’s Editor-At-Large, wrote an article today (‘PAP in decline? But what if…’, 9 Nov) speculating under what scenarios PAP can continue to remain in power for the next 50 years. BERTHA HENSON: WHY THE PAP-GOVERNMENT DESERVES OUR SUPPORT!

I’m going to use the word of week: cynicism. There’s too much of it going around such that everything bad is laid at the G’s door and any attempt by the G to do anything is viewed with suspicion. Past mistakes are not forgiven, even if amends are being made. There is a tendency to “mis-read’’ stuff, especially complicated stuff. There are too many who will die, die not give the G the benefit of the doubt, much less praise of any kind. And those who do, get tarred with some bad names including those that can’t be printed.
