Workers' Party's Yee Jenn Jong is disappointed at the walkover and wonders if Presidents are not meant to go through elections, what with the 'lacking' results in PE1993 and PE2011. Do we really have to wait till the next election to show what we think and who we want as President?

Our reader notes that Mr Tan Chuan-Jin, who has been nominated at Singapore's 10th Speaker, will thus be out of the running to be our next PM. This leaves us with Heng Swee Keat, Lawrence Wong, Ng Chee Meng, Chan Chun Sing and Ong Ye Kung. He thinks this is all very well-planned and calculated.

Would Halimah Yacob have qualified for PE2017 if the Government stuck to the Constitutional Commission's recommendation of having at least 6 years experience in a relevant office? Mdm Halimah had only held the office of the Speaker for about 4.5 years.
