EXPECT MORE TRAIN DELAYS AS SIGNAL TESTINGS CONTINUES

LTA and SMRT are quickly putting in their excuses early, as commuters are left in the dark how much longer the signalling tests will continue, and how much longer they will have to suffer from train delays. Commuters are also puzzled as to why the trains are being tested during peak period, where any kinds of delays will affect thousands of people who just want to go home. In a joint statement, the LTA and SMRT said that Two unrelated faults on the North-South Line on Thursday (June 1) and Friday (June 2) evening were uncovered during system-level performance checks for the new signalling system for the line. What this means is that they were both not expecting the delays to happen, which shows a lack of foresight. What they are trying to say is also to expect more of such delays, because the problems found were not easily solved.

SMRT GIVE EXCUSES EARLY ALREADY, EXPECT GLITCHES NEXT WEEK ONWARDS

SMRT already prepping commuters for expected delays on the MRT North South Line (NSL) starting from next week. This comes as the SMRT are planning to start weekday signal tests from next week onward. Commuters are told to expect that there may be some teething problem next week, as the signal tests are started. Among expected glitches, commuters are expected to be ready for train and platform doors not opening or closing promptly, trains held at stations slightly longer than usual or trains stopping momentarily between stations. This happens as the new system settles in to full load operations. SMRT also said that to minimise even worse commuter inconvenience, they purposely scheduled the signal testings during the June school holidays.

NETIZEN: LTA SHOULD HAVE WATER POINTS FOR US TO DRINK IN MRT STATIONS

Yes, it is an offence to drink on MRT train according to Rail Transist System regulation. But there are people who are sick and suffer from sore throat who needs to be constantly hydrated while on their way home to rest. The reason for the ban is to avoid inconvenience or injury to other passengers caused by spills. If the person drinking did not cause any spills, is there a reason to kick up a fuss? If such a ban is to be enforced, the LTA should provide a water point inside every station so that a thirsty passenger can drink without exiting the station midway through an arduous train journey. Then any spills should be limited to a small corner inside the train station where consumption is allowed.

MRT SIGNAL FAULT DELAYS TRAIN IN MORNING PEAK HOURS AGAIN

Why are we still having frequent signal problems? Weren't the SMRT, SBS Transit, and LTA working hard to solve all these issues? And they have been trying to solve the same issues for the longest time. Yet, we still hear of the same problems occurring again and again. This is failure at the highest level. If you keep getting the same problems year after year even if you have been working hard trying to solve the same problem, isn't that a failure? In any other business, if you keep doing the same mistakes even after being told multiple times, you would probably have been sacked a long time ago already.
