AUNTIE TRIES TO BRING HUGE BOXES INTO MRT, KENA STOPPED BY POLICE

A middle aged Singaporean Chinese woman in her 50s created a scene at Eunos MRT today after she was stopped by MRT station officials for trying to bring 2 large boxes into the MRT premises. She flew into a rage when she was stopped, and shouted angrily at station officials in Mandarin. She argued that there were no signs prohibiting passengers from bringing in large objects.

DOES LTA ALLOW PRIVATE BUSES TO PICK UP PASSENGERS LIKE PUBLIC BUSES?

What is the LTA doing lately? There are so many private buses appearing along Bras Basah, Orchard and Shenton Way area providing illegal bus services! Why no enforcement? I have seen private buses without any signage stopping at almost every stops at Shenton Way between 8.15am to 8.55am and also picking up passengers along Shenton Way and Orchard area bus stops between 5.45pm to 7pm!

NETIZEN: LTA SHOULD HAVE WATER POINTS FOR US TO DRINK IN MRT STATIONS

Yes, it is an offence to drink on MRT train according to Rail Transist System regulation. But there are people who are sick and suffer from sore throat who needs to be constantly hydrated while on their way home to rest. The reason for the ban is to avoid inconvenience or injury to other passengers caused by spills. If the person drinking did not cause any spills, is there a reason to kick up a fuss? If such a ban is to be enforced, the LTA should provide a water point inside every station so that a thirsty passenger can drink without exiting the station midway through an arduous train journey. Then any spills should be limited to a small corner inside the train station where consumption is allowed.

MRT SIGNAL FAULT DELAYS TRAIN IN MORNING PEAK HOURS AGAIN

Why are we still having frequent signal problems? Weren't the SMRT, SBS Transit, and LTA working hard to solve all these issues? And they have been trying to solve the same issues for the longest time. Yet, we still hear of the same problems occurring again and again. This is failure at the highest level. If you keep getting the same problems year after year even if you have been working hard trying to solve the same problem, isn't that a failure? In any other business, if you keep doing the same mistakes even after being told multiple times, you would probably have been sacked a long time ago already.

154 REPORT ON MRT TRIES TO CONFUSE WITH IRRELEVANT STATISTICS

I refer to the article “Reliability of North-South and Circle MRT Lines improves; East-West Line maintains same standard” (Straits Times, Apr 24). It states that “In the year ending Q1, the NSL clocked an average of 180,000km before a delay lasting more than 5 mins, bettering the 156,000km registered in the year ending Q4, 2016.”

SMRT SAYS THEIR NORTH -SOUTH AND CIRCLE LINE IMPROVING

SMRT has released its report on their train performances and indicated that The reliability of the North-South (NSL) and Circle MRT Lines (CCL) has seen a marked improvement in the year up to Q1, while the East-West Line (EWL) has maintained its current level of performance. So, breakdowns are still happening, but at a shorter rate, and less of them are happening. That is a marked improvement, and SMRT must go and report and hope the public clap for them. Actually, if breakdowns still occur, don't even need to talk about improvement in performance. People will always remember the MRT trains for another breakdown that causes them to be late for work or school.

SMRT LOOKING TO SELL TAXI BUSINESS, WILL STAFF KEEP JOBS?

If even a government owned entity is to be sold to a private-hire operator, does this signal that the private companies running the taxi business are winning the battle? Grab and Uber is surely eating up a big share of the market for SMRT to almost give up now. Problem now is, SMRT staff are not guaranteed jobs if Grab buys the company, and that is what is holding the deal back, currently. It does seem that SMRT wants to refocus their energy on managing the MRT and LRT lines, and it may be just a matter of time the SMRT taxi business is sold. This cannot be good news to the many SMRT taxi staff.

TRAIN ENTHUSIAST: NEW SMRT TRAINS MAY SOLVE DELAYS & BREAKDOWNS

I'm one of the lucky ones to have a chance to take SMRT's new trains a few days ago. I'm excited to see the new features and happy that many ppl will be able to enjoy it! Who knows, this new system can maybe put a stop to all this faults! There's a new signalling system so hopefully it will prevent circuit faults and train breakdowns. I know many ppl always complain about the regular delays but I'm sure the new trains can be a solution. They really look improved.. three's new LCD display boards to show ppl what are the attractions near diff mrt stations and other safety related messages. Plus they also have energy efficient LED lighting that is better for the environment. I also take public transport and understand the frustration ppl face with train breakdowns.. but I hope we can all can be patient as it's not an easy thing to solve. Maybe we can look forward to the new trains for a start!
