POOR ATTITUDE SHOWN, ALL I WANTED WAS SINGPASS TOKEN

Due some ‘idiot’ who has spoilt the market hack into the system and sold our SingPass to other countries. We were actually very safe and it has been for many years, no need to change our passwords. The staff at the counter number 6, initially did not want to give me the token, saying I already did my 2FA, so there is no need for me at all. Then, not only the staff, another staff beside also join too saying you must have a good reason to have the token.

SINGPASS 2FA SYSTEM IS AN EPIC FAIL, SMART NATION OR DUMB NATION?

I had been trying to help my mum who is computer illiterate to register for the new Singpass 2FA. Not only did the registration failed for both SMS and online web registration, it appeared that my mum's information on their database had been compromised with an unknown mobile number, as it was displayed when one tries to register online. What's worse is, subsequent attempts to contact the customer support of Singpass and Assurity.com, via phone and online email/form, were totally non-responsive. Yes, both phone and online email/feedback form, to each of them, 4 methods, came to no avail after several days.

WHAT IS 2-FACTOR AUTHENTICATION (2FA)?

Two Factor Authentication, also known as 2FA, two step verification or TFA (as an acronym), is an extra layer of security that is known as "multi factor authentication" that requires not only a password and username but also something that only, and only, that user has on them, i.e. a piece of information only they should know or have immediately to hand - such as a physical token. Using a username and password together with a piece of information that only the user knows makes it harder for potential intruders to gain access and steal that person's personal data or identity.

1560 SingPass accounts hacked

IDA said that investigations so far show there is no evidence to suggest the SingPass system has been compromised. But if that is the case, then how did someone managed to trigger password reset for 419 accounts? Hopefully IDA and Crimson Logic can finish their investigation soon and stop this from happening again. By the way, usually when there is a hack, I would recommend everyone to change their password. But for this case, I don’t know if changing your password will help or not. It seems like someone managed to change the registered mobile number in the system for 2FA and used that to reset the password. Changing your SingPass password does not do anything unless your account has been compromised.

I WAS UNABLE TO LOGIN TO SINGPASS SINCE END OF MAY 2014

Thinking that something is wrong somewhere, I logged in. Again. And again. What the h*ll? Why do I need to login multiple times without being able to do something simple like change my appointment date?! If that’s the case, then, something is very wrong somewhere. I know there is this Heartbleed issue going on. I use Chrome to do it and using the government internet to login to the government website. I’m in the same sector and I get rejected. Bloody barnacles!
