SINGLE MOTHER LIVING IN POVERTY WITH 2 KIDS AFTER EX-HUSBAND REFUSE TO PAY MAINTENANCE & GO HOLIDAY WITH THAI GF

It took me more than two years, multiple fruitless court visits and Meet-The-MP-Sessions, nearly SGD20,000 in arrears of maintenance for my two children and months after months of living in near poverty to decide to do this as I don’t know where else I can turn to for help. When I went to see my MP, my MP (Woodlands Area) said I need a warrant of arrest to proceed and I need to go to the Family Court to get this. I am stuck in a rut because the Family Court and my MP are giving me contradicting solutions.

MALAYSIA CARES MORE FOR THEIR UNDERPRIVILEGED, SG LEAVES IT TO PHILANTHROPISTS

Yet, housing policies continue to disadvantage single parents, expressing the assumption that as a society, we are fine with these families being penalised. Whether this is consciously intended or not, relegating their housing problems to the realm of philanthropy amounts to further acceptance of this assumption”.

Do single mothers in Malaysia face the discriminatory policies that we have here in Singapore? So, another obviously glaring question after reading the above cited two articles on the same day is – why is it that public housing in Singapore cost many times more than Malaysia?

SDP SUPPORTS PETITION TO ALLOW SINGLE PARENTS TO BUY HDB FLAT, SUPPORT SINCE 2012

The SDP fully supports the Association of Women for Action and Research's (AWARE's) initiative calling on the government to allow single parents to register for HDB flats. In fact, our party had drawn up a proposal in 2012 to increase the inclusiveness of public housing by enabling single-parent families to buy HDB flats.

I am a mother of 4 children. I had faced my second failure in my marriage in 2013. In 2013, my ex husband had an affair, he abused my son from my first marriage which I totally can't accept and tolerate. Since then I decided to leave him with my 4 kids and I make a police report against him of abusing my son. After I left, I tried renting flat from HDB but being push from 1 place to another. I tried to fight for the rented flat but was rejected. We, single mother don't required pity or charity from our government, what we need is fairness and justice.

BAEY YAM KENG: A MAN IS NOT A MOTHER, A WOMAN NOT A FATHER

Mr Baey said he was not in support of same-sex marriage. "Man and woman are just made differently. While two men or two women can love and care for a child as good as, or even better than a man-woman couple, we have to understand that a man is not a mother and a woman is not a father," "I may cook better than my wife but I will never be a mother to my three children. Even if my wife becomes the breadwinner, she cannot be their father. To be fair to the child who is innocent and cannot choose, I am not for same gender couples to have and raise children.

SINGLE MOTHER: NLB BOOK CENSORSHIP LEADS TO INTOLERANCE & BIGOTRY

My daughter and I have a very close relationship. Even though there are only two of us, we are bonded in love and kinship and we are a real family. Together with many friends I know who are single parents, adopted parents, blended-family parents, homosexual men and women, we are real, and we live alongside other Singaporeans from traditional men-woman union, making the same contribution to our country. By removing books not conforming to the prescribed family model, I fear that we are creating an artifical reality for our young children. I fear that my daughter is denied the opportunity to learn the diversity of families and that she will grow to doubt her value as an individual.
