Singapore Government linked official can get away with losing hundreds of millions dollars in a GLC but continues to be awarded million dollar renumeration! It was reported in ST recently ("Bonuses of SembMarine execs hit by downturn") that SembMarine CEO Wong Weng Sun can still earn a renumeration of almost $2 million (salary of $926,000 with share-based compensation of $863,000) when the GLC he helmed lost $289.7 million!!

ARE OUR TOWN COUNCILS BEING RUN BY IDIOTS?

Recently there have been highlights in the internet regarding Town Councils mindless implementation such as : putting sign stating "No Playing of Chess in Common Areas" at a HDB void deck in Haig Road, installing barriers on a walkway which caters to wheel chairs users at Bedok. These idiotic quick fixes in responses to feedback and/or complaints give us a glimpse of the working mentality of Town Councils. Seems like they suffer from a deficiency of common sense.

The current oil price might drop to $10 a barrel. It's time for the Singapore government to lower household electric tariff, gas and petrol cost? While in US, the price of petrol and gas have been falling tremendously. As such, US citizens are paying much lower than before for petrol, gas and fuel cost. Surprisingly, major petroleum companies and Singapore Power have not lower the price and continue to make huge profits from consumers.

Singaporeans cannot just recognise and celebrate Singapore’s past 50 years only. To do so will be to disrespect pioneers’ pioneers like Tan Kim Seng, Tan Kah Kee, Tan Tock Seng, Lim Bo Seng, Lt Adnan and so on, whom all died before 1965 and thus contributed nothing in the past 50 years.
