UN HUMAN RIGHTS OFFICE: STOP HANGING PEOPLE FOR DRUG CHARGES

The UN Human Rights Office for South-East Asia calls on the Singaporean Government to halt the imminent execution of Malaysian national Prabagaran Srivijayan for a drugs related offence, and urges the Government to immediately instate a moratorium on the use of the death penalty.

ELECTED PRESIDENCY IS A JOKE & TWISTED SCHEME TO BAN NON-ELITES FROM QUALIFYING

If the govt wins 70% of the popular vote, while the president won only 35%, who would have the more legitimate claim to possessing the moral authority to act on citizens' behalf?

Why should a president who only had 35% support possess power to check on a govt elected by 70% of the people?

With the changes, the Elected President scheme has become a bit of a joke, really. It is nothing more than an Ivory Tower club reserved only for selected elites who twist and turn the scheme in such contortions that it has banned everyone else, except the very elite of the elites, from qualifying.

In short, it has no relevance to the average citizen at all.

CPF BOARD PAID $1.7M "EXTRA" MEDISAVE TO NON-CITIZEN BABIES DUE TO ERROR

The Central Provident Fund Board (CPF Board) has admitted to an error that saw $1.7 million in tax payers money being channeled to the Medisave accounts of 885 babies who were not citizens at birth. All Singapore citizens receive $4,000 Medisave Grant for Newborns (MGN) in their CPF Medisave account as part of the Marriage and Parenthood Package.

Singapore Government linked official can get away with losing hundreds of millions dollars in a GLC but continues to be awarded million dollar renumeration! It was reported in ST recently ("Bonuses of SembMarine execs hit by downturn") that SembMarine CEO Wong Weng Sun can still earn a renumeration of almost $2 million (salary of $926,000 with share-based compensation of $863,000) when the GLC he helmed lost $289.7 million!!
