2 GUTTER OIL COLLECTORS FINED $6800 FOR ILLEGALLY EXTRACTING OIL FROM GREASE TRAPS

2 illegal oil collectors were convicted for illegally extracting greasy oil waste from grease traps in April. According to the National Environment Agency (NEA) today, together they were fined a total of S$6,800. The 1st man was fined S$3,800 for illegally collecting greasy waste in Bedok North Street 1 Hawker Centre and the eateries at Yishun Street 81 and Lorong 4 Toa Payoh on 4 occasions between September and October 2014.

FAKE PLAINCLOTHES POLICEMAN WHO STOLE FROM WOMEN IN GEYLANG ARRESTED

Police have arrested a 36-year-old man who impersonated a police officer and stole cash, jewellery and handphones amounting to more than $2,500. The suspect would usually target females at isolated locations. He would approach his victims and identify himself as a police officer, flashing a card with his photograph and a police logo before checking on their belongings and stealing their valuables.

HOMELESS GIRL RAPED BY CEMETERY WORKER

41 year-old cemetery worker Roslan Jaafar has admitted in court today to raping a 12-year-old girl who was staying at the cemetery with her family. It was understood that the girl and family had been evicted out of their HDB flat in the past and had no fixed place to stay in. They had been living in a tent at the cemetery for several months.

MAID POISONED EMPLOYER’S BABY SO SHE COULD BE SENT BACK HOME

A 28 year-old Indonesian maid Annisa put eucalyptus oil in stored breast milk packs meant for her employer's baby because she wanted to be scolded and sent back home to Indonesia. According to the Health Sciences Authority, children should not consume eucalyptus oil as it contains terpineol, a fatal ingredient that could cause death for children.

DISQUALIFIED DRIVER ARRESTED AFTER 10-MINUTE “CAR CHASE” IN GEYLANG

A car chase in Geylang earlier this week led to a 35-year-old man being held for suspected dangerous driving. Traffic Police officers were conducting checks along Lorong 14 in Geylang on Monday night when a black car approached the roadblock in a slow but unsteady manner at about 11.50pm. The officers decided to stop the car and check the driver, but he suddenly surged forward and sped through the roadblock.
