Hassan was the girl's neighbour and had been trying to make contact with her for some time. He went to her unit to offer packets of ice, but the girl's mother declined his offer. He responded with an offer to buy the girl some ice cream and asked her to visit his flat later. With her mother's permission, the girl went to Hassan's flat later.

An 18 year-old student was molested by a man at the NTU Hall of Residence 1 along Nanyang Circle on 4 November, the police said in a statement. The 31 year-old man was arrested last Friday.
