IMAM CHARGED WITH PROMOTING ENMITY OVER REMARKS ON JEWS, CHRISTIANS

Imam Nalla Mohamed Abdul Jameel has pleaded guilty to promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion or race. This is with regards to remarks the imam had made at Friday prayers at a mosque in January and February, where he recited an old Arabic text originating from his village in India that read: "God help us against Jews and Christians", which is not an extract from the Quran.

FT ACCUSE SPF OF RACIAL BIAS OVER “SILVER MAN” ARREST

On 12 Mar 2017, the SPF clarified that 'Silver Man's' (busker) run-in with the police on 11 Mar 2017 on Orchards Road was a 'misunderstanding'. However, JD Rusdy, a Pinoy from Cebu City (Lives in Singapore), decided to stoke the flames in response to Eric Fong's FB post, and insinuated that "it is about two up-and-coming police of the opposite color abusing their power by cherry picking victims."

TRS FOUNDER YANG KAIHENG CONVICTED FOR 6 CHARGES OF SEDITION

Co-founder of The Real Singapore sociopolitical website Yang Kaiheng was convicted on 6 charges of sedition after he pleaded guilty to the charges. He was initially expected to claim trial to prove his innocence and lack of involvement in the website's operations. In the first tranche of the TRS sedition trial, Yang Kaiheng's wife Ai Takagi pleaded guilty to sedition charges laid against her and appeared to take full responsibility for the alleged crimes committed by TRS. For her admission of guilt, she was sentenced to 10 months jail and is currently serving her sentence.

AMOS YEE FACES REFORMATIVE TRAINING FOR FAILING TO MEET PROBATION OFFICER

Teenage blogger Amos Yee may be sent for reformative training after he rejected the option of probation. Yee returned to the state courts again today for an urgent hearing after his probation officer filed a report to the court explaining Yee's refusal to accept the terms of probation. The court heard Yee refused to take down the offending video and blog post about Lee Kuan Yew even though court judge Jasvender Kaur had informed him and his lawyers about this requirement during the previous trial meeting. He had also refused to meet with his probation officer after he told her he did not want to undergo probation.

PINOY LAWYER SAYS THAT EDZ ELLO IS NOT GUILTY OF SEDITION

Despite all evidence to the contrary, a Filipino lawyer has come out to declare that he believes Edz Ello has done nothing wrong by posting seditious comments against Singaporeans on his personal Facebook page. According to Philippines media, Attourney Joyce Domingo Dapat of the Domingo, Munsayac and Associates Law Office, Philippines, appeared on a recent Pinoy TV show to give her views on the case. According to Joyce, Edz Ello was treated "unjustly" because he lost his job prior to the conclusion of police investigations. She said that Edz Ello had his human rights "violated" because his passport was impounded for his crime. She also took issue with the S$10,000 bail needed for Edz to post bail, claiming that the amount was too high for such an offence.
