PARENTS OF SEC 2 ACS BOY SUED SCHOOL FOR CONFISCATING HIS IPHONE

Parents of a Sec 2 student have sued his school, ACS (Barker Rd) for confiscating his handphone. The boy was using his iPhone 7 in class when it was confiscated by the teacher. According to the school's rules, anybody caught using handphones in class will have their devices confiscated for 3 months. The boy himself indicated that he was aware of the rule. However, his parents were relentless as they sent letters demanding the school to return their son's phone immediately. They threatened to take this to the court if nothing is done. They finally decided to take the case to court when they did not receive a reply from the school.

EX-SHUQUN SEC PRINCIPAL SLAMS MEDIA’S BIASED UNFAIR REPORTING OVER SCHOOL BULLYING INCIDENT

I was the principal of ‪#‎shuqunsecondary‬ from 2012 to 2015. From 1 Jan 2016, I will be leaving the education service. I am hoping to pursue further studies. And no, before you ask, I made this decision some time before the "bullying incident" in my school. Many ppl who know the truth of the events in my school have asked me why I did not respond more actively to the various reports on the Internet when the incident happened. My answer - I did not want to feed the ongoing media frenzy and help viral irresponsible articles that were being put out by my comments.

Secondary school students to be banded instead of graded for CCAs

The Education Ministry is doing away with grades A1 to E8 for students’ co-curricular programmes. Instead, students will be placed in three bands — Excellent, Good or Fair — at the end of secondary school. The Excellent band will carry two bonus points, which can be used for entry into tertiary institutions.
