NO WAGE INCREASE FOR 80% OF LOW WAGE S’POREANS SINCE 2012

It states that “On Wednesday, the National Wages Council (NWC) urged employers to raise the pay of workers earning up to $1,200 per month by between $45 and $60 this year. This is the sixth year in a row it has recommended minimum pay hikes for low-wage workers. The amount was set at $50 in 2012 and raised to $60 in 2013, where it stayed for three years. Last year, the recommended hike was a range – from $50 to $65.

NO PAY HIKE THIS YEAR FOR SG WORKERS

An annual survey by recruitment firm Robert Walters on the employment and wage outlook globally have indicated that most employees in Singapore will not get a pay hike this year. Unless you are working in the information technology (IT) and digital marketing sectors, where talent is scarce, then hopes of seeing more money coming in this year through salary will not be fulfilled. The only thing that will see an increase in Singapore is the cost of living. so, while our salaries remain constant, and no hope of seeing a pay hike for one whole year, prices will keep going up and up.
