Tan Cheng Bock Sits At Same Table With PAP MPs, Possibly Challenging Them In Next GE

The Chief of Progress Singapore Party (PSP) and possibly de facto opposition figurehead, Dr Tan Cheng Bock, found himself in a very familiar, yet peculiar position over dinner at a community event. He was seated at a table reserved for guests of the Temple, and found himself seated beside S Iswaran and Foo Mee Har, both PAP MPs for the West Coast GRC ward.

This morning at the Nomination Centre, the Reform Party's nominations papers contained an error. They had not deleted the words "We are standing as a group of independent candidates" in their declaration before a Commissioner of Oaths. Our PAP team spotted the error and I informed Mr Kenneth Jeyaratnam of the Reform Party so that they had enough time to correct it. If the error wasn't corrected, we were advised that the Reform Party team would have been disqualified on technical grounds. We the PAP team do not want to win on technicalities.

Some individuals have “gone too far” in their reactions against the unethical practices of the errant retailer at Sim Lim Square, said Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office S Iswaran, as he said that police have begun looking into reports on the case, as well as a related report on harassment. In a Facebook post on Saturday (Nov 8), Mr Iswaran, who is also Second Minister for Home Affairs and Trade and Industry, spoke up about the recent incident at Sim Lim Square. He urged people to "exercise restraint" and not to take matters into their own hands. "Let due process take its course," he wrote.
