Dear Editorial Team, I am penning this in support of Roy Ngerng, who is in exile overseas so he can work and pay off a debt he owes to our already over bloated PM through constant victories in a series of defamation suits. Roy is well educated and holds a fairly decent well-paying job, that …

Dear The Workers' Party, thank you for fighting so hard in parliament yesterday to protect Singapore and Singaporeans. My heartfelt thanks and deepest appreciation. Your efforts are sometimes not appreciated. For some Singaporeans, some might feel that the Worker's Party had underperformed and decided to punish the Worker's Party at the general election last year, and therefore did not vote for the Worker's Party.

From what Soh Lung said on her Facebook, the police only told her that she needed to go back today to collect the devices that they seized from her last week. Soh Lung had said: "I don't know if the police have another trick up their sleeves. It is hard to trust them. But what can I do except to be prepared for the worst to happen? I may be subjected to another round of interrogation, threats and perhaps arrested. I don't know." She was right. When she got to the police station just now, the police would not let her bring her phone and powerbank up with her to the supposed "appointment". It did not feel like an appointment. It felt like a trap. They wanted to interrogate her further but pretended that it was only about letting her collect her devices. It was clear the police was up to something. They did not want her to bring her phone so that she would be trapped and could not contact anyone. The police wanted to keep her from contacting anyone so that they could intimidate her further.

The Workers’ Party is concerned about the manner in which the current investigations into alleged violations of “Cooling Off Day” regulations are reportedly being conducted. We understand from the public record that other individuals or entities who were reported for similar violations in the past were not known to have faced the same lengthy interviews, and searches and seizures of personal equipment.

This should surprise no one, but there is total silence in the state media on yesterday's egregious police harassment of Roy Ngerng and Teo Soh Lung. People said of Benjamin Lim, "But there've been so many investigations, and he's the only one where this happened!" Well, he's the only one you know of, because the state media is worse than useless on questions of civil liberties and due process. And you know about him only because TOC forced their hand. People scoffed, "This is Singapore; cover-ups don't happen!" Which gets it exactly backwards. This is Singapore, and the cover-up is so complete you don't even notice.
