6 PRC WOMEN CHARGED FOR RIOTING AT KBOX CINELEISURE

Six PRC women, aged between 18 and 30, were charged in court on Friday with rioting at K Box Cineleisure Orchard early last month. All six were accused of rioting on 3 May, at about 2:15am at KBox Cineleisure Orchard at 8 Grange Road by taking part in “an unlawful assembly” with a common object to cause hurt to Zheng Lu, a 19-year-old female PRC national, and by using violence.

Construction worker first man to plead guilty to rioting in Little India

A 33-year-old construction worker has become the first of 25 men implicated in the Little India riot last December to plead guilty to rioting and committing mischief. Ramalingam Sakthivel admitted to being part of an unlawful assembly at Little India on December 8 last year between 9.30pm and 10.50pm. During the chaos, he threw various projectiles at police officers and police vehicles, flipped a police car and hit the Singapore Civil Defence Force ambulance with a pole. The maximum penalty for rioting is a jail term of seven years and caning.

SEVEN ARRESTED FOR RIOTING OUTSIDE ZOUK

On 30 March 2014 at about 3.56am, Police responded to a case of fight along Jiak Kim Street and spotted the victim who reported of being set upon by a group of suspects that fled after fisting and kicking him. While officers from the Central Police Division were investigating into the fight, another case of fight was reported along Kim Seng Road at about 4.57am, where another victim was attacked by a group of suspects that fled prior to Police’s arrival. Suspecting that the assailants could be the same for both the cases, the officers conducted extensive enquiries and looked into all the available CCTVs in the vicinity to establish the identities of the suspects. The officers’ round-the-clock efforts were paid off when they arrested the suspects at various locations on the same day.
