FIRST PERSON QUESTIONED BY POLICE OVER MRT PROTEST

The police have questioned at least one of the man involved in an alleged protest that took place on an MRT train. The group were protesting against the he detentions under the Internal Security Act (ISA) 30 years ago. The man, Mr Sean Francis Han, 22, is an activist and also the editor of wakeupsg.com. Mr Han spoke to the media after the left the Police Cantonment Complex, where he was questioned today, and said he did not know if there were any charges against him or the outcome of the questioning. He was also not sure if the rest of the group that took part in the protest will be called up for questioning by the police. Police had earlier said that they were looking at the protest, where the alleged protesters were seen riding a train on the North-South Line while holding copies of the book and wearing blindfolds in a silent protest.

HUMAN RIGHTS ORGANISATION: DON’T PUT BARRICADES AT PINK DOT, YOU ARE SUPPRESSING ACTIVISM

Amnesty International, which campaigns for human rights, published a statement on Singapore's restrictions to this year's Pink Dot. It asked the authorities to revoke the idea of putting barricades at the Speaker's Corner and claims it is an attempt to suppress activism. "Amnesty International calls on the Singaporean authorities to respect and protect the right to peaceful assembly and ensure that they work to facilitate peaceful demonstrations instead of creating more restrictions to silence communities, or their critics." TAIWAN VILLAGERS PROTEST SAF ARTILLERY TRAINING, TELLS SAF TO GET OUT OF TAIWAN

Taiwanese villagers from Hsinchu County who were unhappy with how the SAF artillery training exercises have affected their lives protested for SAF to get out of their country. Protestors delivered a protest letter to a Taiwan military personnel who later clarified that these protesters were a minority and they protested due to a dispute over land compensation made in 1985.
