GOH CHOK TONG: THANK YOU, I AM RECOVERING WELL FROM MY CANCER

Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong said on Monday (Nov 24) he is “recovering well” from his surgery for prostate cancer. In a Facebook post, he thanked well-wishers for their concern, saying that their messages encouraged and cheered him up. “Only discomfort is I have not ‘broken wind’ yet and hence not allowed food or fluids other than small sips of water. This is to prevent vomiting and potential choking caused by the residual effect of GA (general anaesthesia),” he wrote.

GOH CHOK TONG UNDERGOES SURGERY FOR PROSTRATE CANCER

Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong underwent a successful surgery for prostate cancer today (Nov 22), according to a news release issued by the office of ESM Goh. His doctor, Dr Sim Hong Gee, a senior consultant urologist in Gleneagles Hospital and visiting consultant at Singapore General Hospital (SGH), said Mr Goh is expected to make a full recovery as the cancer was localised and detected early.

Middle aged men who spend nine hours a week on their bike are more likely to be diagnosed with prostate cancer, new research suggests. A British study of 5,200 cyclists is the biggest research project ever conducted on the health impact of cycling. It suggests that cyclists in in their 50s who bicycle for more than nine hours a week may be up to five times as likely to receive a diagnosis of prostate cancer.
