Is it Fiduciary Suicide to Give Our Reserves to Profitable Firms such as Citibank?

It was reported that a sum of $35 million provided as wage subsidies to 32 commercial firms had been returned to the government. Apparently, these companies do not need money from our reserves. Another 29 companies also reported that they do not wish to receive further wage subsidies. No amount has been stated or how much they would receive had they not declined. Why are there no background checks carried out before large swaths of money are given away?

SBS Transit Posts Profits Of 1.5%, But Still Warns Of Rising Maintenance And Staff Cost

This from a company that only just recently had a 7% fare hike. Yet they still said they are dogged by the rising costs, especially from their operation of the rail business. Less we forget, the government also pumps in billions of dollars into the company's operation, to ensure a working transportation network in Singapore. And the company has in fact, been making profits every year.

TAXI DRIVER OVERHEARD ARMY BOYS PLAN TO PROFIT FROM ED SHEERAN TICKETS

I am a taxi driver and would like to share what I heard when I sent 4 army boys to their camps on Sunday night. The boys were talking about how they can profit from Ed Sheeran tickets, one of them who went to queue claimed that he got 8 tickets and only needs 2, he is willing to sell the some of the remaining 6 tickets to the other friends and allow them to jack up the prices for profits. They started looking over the Internet for some cheaper tickets like maybe less than $1000 and prepare to sell them out again at $1500 so on and so forth.

I am wondering, are these army boys so desperate for money? Why are they robbing others of their livelihood with their own greed or advantage? I am hoping for the authorities or ticketing agents to take actions avian at these scalpers. Please be careful Ed Sheeran fans.

MONEY-DRIVEN SMRT CANNOT BE TRUSTED TO PUT MRT COMMUTERS ABOVE PROFITS

While we all agree that the train disruptions are unacceptable, the question is what is being done about it (“Steps taken to fix series of train disruptions: SMRT”; yesterday). This is not the first time we have had such massive breakdowns causing inconvenience to commuters. The SMRT new management team has been in place for some time now and, yet, breakdowns and security lapses continue. It is time for us to acknowledge that the model has broken down.

SMRT ANNOUNCES S$22.5 MILLION IN PROFITS AFTER RECENT FARE HIKE

MRT & bus operator SMRT declared on Wednesday a 58.4% rise in net profit for the third quarter of this year. This was helped by higher rental income and a sharp reduction in losses from its bus operations. This S$22.5 million profit was up from the S$14.2 million it earned during the same quarter last year. Why does the PTC approve SMRT's proposed fare hikes when they are still making profits at the expense of Singaporeans?

PAP INTENDS TO PROFIT FROM PIONEER GENERATION PACKAGE

Many Singaporeans still don’t get it. The Pioneer Generation Package was not designed to benefit our pioneers. The Pioneer Generation Package (PGP) was designed by civil servants with a profit motive, to channel more CPF for GIC to invest and to coincide with the next GE. Singaporeans must remember the PAP runs our country as a corporation and civil servants and politicians are rewarded by a set economic KPIs.
