JAIL FOR ONE ILLEGAL RACER, PROBATION FOR OTHER RACER “FRM GOOD FAMILY”

A sales account manager, Malaysian Sugath Lum Wai Yuen, 30 was sentenced to jail for two weeks, fined $1,500 and banned from driving for a year for taking part in an illegal race along Seletar Link in July 2015. Last month, the other racer, Jandej Goh (now 21 years old) received a probation sentence for participating in the same race. As Goh "comes from a good family", he was placed under supervised probation - he has to remain indoors from 11pm to 6am.

Interestingly in Singapore; two guys who conducted bicycle races without permit, because they wanted to make the race affordable to youths and engage them into to the healthy and physically demanding sport of fixed gear riding, evolving to a community by itself recognized by the Cycling federation, gets 7 Days jail and fined for $5000/- , after forking out thousands in legal fees.

AMOS YEE REQUEST FOR JAIL TERM DENIED, FORCED TO DO PROBATION

During a Court hearing today, 16 year old YouTuber Amos Yee, through his defence lawyer, requested to be jailed instead of going for probation after being sentenced guilty by the Judge. However in a strange twist of fate, the prosecution doesn’t want Amos Yee to be jailed and requested for the judge to give the 16 year old counselling and probation. This stance adopted by the prosecution is inconsistent given that Amos Yee have gone on trial as an adult.

MAN ON PROBATION SLASHES BOUNCER’S NECK WITH GLASS

22 year-old Mohamed Asrafd Peer Mohamed committed offences in 2012 and 2013 which caused him to be sentenced to 4 years worth of probation. That did not stop him from committing his latest offence: He used a glass fragment to slash bouncer 29 year-old Prakash Jagajeevan in the neck last year. Asrafd, who is jobless, was jailed 1 year 3 months and fined $3,000 yesterday.
