i am thinking of invalidating my vote when it comes, to indicate my frustration and protest against this stupid constitution. it got me into thinking... what if there are many more ppl like me also invalidating their votes at the polling station? sekali the number of invalid votes counted is more than 50%, wouldn't this be a clear message to the stupid pap govt that their constitution change is really bullshit and the people are not happy?

Am reading parliamentary records of the debate on the introduction of the GRC system in 1988, and came across this part of the speech by then DPM Goh Chok Tong. It is his response to the opposition PKMS' alternative suggestion to the GRC.

Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong announced in Parliament that the Presidential Election due in 2017 will be reserved for Malay candidates only after the hiatus model was triggered. This is because for the past 5 consecutive terms, there were no Malay presidential candidates.

My goal for running the event from the very beginning was to physically do something about the ridiculous amendments to the elected presidency. I know that the bill will be passed on Monday, but at least I have done my part to register my disagreement with the whole charade to justify the amendments to the Elected Presidency.
