PRC FAMILY ALLOWS THEIR KID TO PEE IN PUBLIC POOL DESPITE ADVISING THEM NOT TO

I am disgusted to see this family letting their child urinate into the drain right next to the swimming pool on Saturday, Feb 15. We saw this at the Downtown East chalet's swimming pool. Despite telling them nicely not to do this in the public pool, they ignored me and continue doing their thing. They are a family from China but I do not know if they are tourist or are they living here and they seems to not be able to understand english.

Was your son in Singapore to undergo full-time training or part-time training? This was the question posed to Madam Zhang Ping, 54, whose son, China-born athlete Luan Wei, is suing the Singapore Athletic Association (SAA) for breaching promises made in a 1999 agreement. This question took up more than a third of Madam Zhang's cross-examination by SAA's lawyer, Senior Counsel Giam Chin Toon, yesterday. One of the alleged promises was that the SAA would provide Mr Luan with English tuition and arrange for him to attend school in Singapore,or train and attend school in China.

Fatal stabbing of cabby: No grounds for death penalty

Odd job worker Wang Wenfeng was facing the death penalty for fatally stabbing a taxi driver nearly five years ago. Instead, he was sentenced to life imprisonment and given the maximum 24 strokes of the cane in November last year. In judgment grounds released yesterday, the High Court made clear in this rare case that it would impose the death penalty if prosecutors could show a life sentence would not be enough as a deterrent instead.

At the beginning of the year I spent in Singapore (2006-2007), I often heard Singaporeans remark on how “the damn foreigners are taking over our country, especially those from China.” I found that funny since a white person once muttered the same thing about me and my Singaporean friends (“damn Chinese taking over”) on our way to New York from Toronto. Don’t hate too much on foreigners, I thought every time I heard a Singaporean complain. After all, if you go overseas, you’ll be a damn foreigner too.
