This however, drew a sharp rebuke from Trade and Industry Minister Chan Chun Sing, who proceeded to give a speech that lasted for half an hour, outlining the government's strategies for growing Singapore’s economy and creating jobs. While the speech was possibly already prepared in advance, he still failed to answer Pritam's questions. So, are the Whites hiding something from Singaporeans, something that would not look too good on them?

Whoever is behind LHL's video has done a top class job. Plain background, tired-looking LHL with little make-up, displaying a little exasperation/frustration, a hint dishevelled... Making LHL look like just an ordinary son trying to honour his parents. Looks like the work of an American PR company. Top notch understanding of how social media works.

I think it is high time for females to serve NS since they haven't been producing enough babies with our falling fertility rate of below 1. Women can serve in paramedic, recce, sniper, scout, artillery, intelligence, UAV pilots, security, etc. There are so many roles that doesn't require physical strength and women can fit into these roles perfectly, leaving those physically demanding roles to men. By doing so, we can increase manpower. I would also trust women citizens more than male PRs. Which makes me question why do we need PRs, who are effectively foreigners, to serve NS? No foreigners should ever be trusted to defend our nation. In times of war, they might even be recruited to be spies by foreign invaders.

Netizen Kindred Cheong called for Pink dot organisers to fence off Hong Lim Park from foreigners and PRs. I am glad that only Singaporeans and permanent residents (PRs) can attend Pink Dot from this year onwards, and only local companies can sponsor it. It is important to disallow foreign individuals and organisations from interfering in Singaporean politics and social issues. We must stop foreigners from abusing values such as democracy, freedom of speech and human rights in Singapore, and from spreading their agenda here. The Pink Dot organisers should fence off Hong Lim Park and employ security officers and registration staff to ensure that only Singaporeans and PRs attend the event.

In 2016, employment growth was 10,700 for locals and 5,700 for foreigners. In 2015, employment growth was 700 for locals and 31,600 for foreigners. About 35 per cent (estimated) of the total undergraduate and graduate student enrollment in our public universities are non-Singaporeans. Most of the foreign students are required to stay and work after their graduation for at least three years. Why do we allow practically anyone in the world to come as tourists – apply for jobs and stay when they find one? On the average – 30,000 new permanent residents (PRs) and new citizens have been granted per year. If it is still the average of 20,000 new citizens and 30,000 new PRs a year – does it mean that the estimated number of new citizens and new PRs granted from 2007 to 2016, may be about 194,000 and 409,000, respectively? As there were only 10,700 locals’ jobs’ growth last year – if the new PRs and new citizens granted last year was also about 30,000 and 20,000, respectively – how many of the 10,700 locals’ jobs went to Singaporeans?

So, the government should not cheapen the Singapore PR status. Make it hard to earn one, and when one does get a PR here, he would have really worked hard to earn it. Not by some cheap payment of PR fees, and these people are expected to really contribute to Singapore's economy. Only then are PR on a same level field as locals, and thus accusations of jobs taken from locals might be lessened.
