A man, who was feeling a bit sad after drinking, dialed 999 and told the police hotline that he was going to be dead. It was a prank call, and pest controller Yeo Cheng Tee was jailed for five weeks for it.

ANOTHER SCAM, THIS TIME USING POLICE HOTLINE NUMBER
The Police have warned the public on Friday of another scam, this time involving members of the public receiving missed calls from a fake police hotline number. Police have also clarified that genuine calls made from Police hotlines would not result in the number "1800 255-0000' from showing on their mobile phones. Police have advised the public to ignore such calls from unknown origins. It is possible that caller ID spoofing technology may be used to mask the actual phone number and display a different number. The Police have also requested members of the public to submit an online information via their website if they have any details on the matter. A reminder that calls using the number 999 are only for emergency use.
