PM Lee's revelation that race and religion is a factor in Singapore's next choice of Prime Minister, as well the Elected Presidency being reserved for the Malays this time around because Malays need to be well-represented, have really shaken my believe about Singapore's pledge of unbiasedness towards race or religion.
This statement by the PM really stung. Have we been misled all this while, when we say the pledge "regardless of race, language or religion"? PM Lee's statement clearly flies against our very own pledge. If even after 50 years, we still cannot look beyond race and religion, then we have a lot more growing up to do.
