Singaporeans today have lost a great man and a wise leader. Mr Othman Wok is one of the few Muslim leaders today with the guts to do what is right for the country. Look at our Malay MPs today, some keep talking about divisive issues and trying to divide Singaporeans, others keep quiet and do nothing when our multiracial society is at stake.

Tuan Haji Othman Bin Wok, one of Singapore's founding People's Action Party members, has died at Singapore General Hospital on Monday at the age of 92. Encik Haji Othman was one of the signatories to the Separation Agreement between the Malaysian government, led by Tunku Abdul Rahman, and the Singapore government, led by Lee Kuan Yew.

NTUC Fairprice, one of Singapore's largest supermarket chains, will be extending its 3% Pioneer Generation discount for another year until 31 Dec 2017. The scheme was original meant to end on 31 Dec 2016.

PAP Ministers earn an average of $5,000/- per day. Even a Junior Minister like Ng Chee Meng gets a starting salary of $95,000/-per month. This pioneer generation picking empty tin cans to sell at $1.20 per kg (approx 60 tin cans needed). How more cruel & uncaring can the govt be?

When he heard that his mixed Rice is $6.00, he was like... "huh? So expensive?!!!" If he can't even afford a $5-6 meal at his age, then our Government is definitely not doing enough! He even have to choose his food to make sure it doesn't exceed $2....

Poor vision or vision loss among the elderly is a major healthcare problem and many of our seniors will require cataract operations once they hit 60 and beyond. The most common cause of vision loss among our elderly includes macular degeneration, glaucoma, cataract and diabetic retinopathy. A recent check with Tan Tock Seng Hospital revealed to my surprise that Medishield Life does not pay a single cent for cataract operations which cost $950 per eye.

Singaporeans cannot just recognise and celebrate Singapore’s past 50 years only. To do so will be to disrespect pioneers’ pioneers like Tan Kim Seng, Tan Kah Kee, Tan Tock Seng, Lim Bo Seng, Lt Adnan and so on, whom all died before 1965 and thus contributed nothing in the past 50 years.

According to www.pioneers.sg - “The Pioneer Generation package is not meant for all who turn 65 in 5, 10 or 25 years’ time. Rather, it is for the special generation of Singaporeans who were at least aged 16 in 1965 – or are aged 65 and older by the end of 2014.”

When I first joined the workforce, I subscribe to the scheme and agreed with the plan that I will get ALL my CPF monies when I turn 55, not part of it... all of it.
